Abstract :

Boundary slopes of immersed essential surfaces in $3$-manifolds with a toral boundary will be considered. On the distances between two such boundary slopes, a number of upper bounds were established by Torisu, Rieck, Hass-Rubinstein-Wang, and others. In this talk, new bounds will be presented, which are much sharper than theirs under certain restriction on the manifolds or the surfaces,
