Title : Holomorphic disks and three-manifold invariants

Abstract :

Heegaard Floer homology is a three-manifold invariant obtained from holomorphic disks associated to a Heegaard diagram. I will sketch the construction of this invariant and give some applications, in particular, to the problem of knots which admit lens space surgeries. This material is joint work with Zoltan Szabo.
