Abstract :

The positive tight contact structure on $S^3$ is derived from an open-book decomposition of $S^3$ whose fiber is obtained from a disk by plumbing positive Hopf bands. In this situation the boundary of the fiber is a transverse link in the contact structure. We discuss Dehn surgery along such a transverse link which preserves the tightness of contact structures.
