Session Support

There will be financial support from our sponsors to each session. This can be distributed by the judgement of each session organizer(s), PC cochairs and the general chair. Once you are going to be supported, all contacts about the financial support should be addressed to Nobuki Takayama (takayama@math.kobe-u.ac.jp, general chair).

There are some regulations that everyone has to follow. The most common ways to support speaker(s) and organizers would be in form of covering local expenses in Kobe. The local support cannot be made unless the rest of travel cost is covered by some research grant or some equivalent budget. More precise information is below.

Since the grant is supported by government organizations, we have to follow regulations and prepare documents properly. The regulations are a little complicated. A FAQ is prepared in this page. If you have a further question concerning this budget, please feel free to making any question to Nobuki Takayama. (takayama@math.kobe-u.ac.jp, general chair).

FAQ

  1. Q. How much can I get for one day?
    A. The standard is 13,400 yen/a day, which will be enough for lodging and buying foods.
  2. Q. I will arrive in Japan on Monday and leave Japan on Friday. How much can I get?
    A. 13,400*4 yen. "4" stands for the 4 nights.
  3. Q. How much do I need to pay for a room in a hotel?
    A. The cost of standard single rooms is from 6,000 yen to 9,000 yen in Kobe.
  4. Q. Can I get a support for the airplane ticket?
    A. A partial support is not possible by the grant regulations. I have to cover the (whole) air fare ticket and (reduced or full) local expenses in this case. In any case, this will spend a large part of the session support and I understand that it is an exceptional case.
  5. Q. Can I extend the stay of Kobe and can I get the financial support for the extra days?
    A. Yes. Of course, the extension should be reasonable length and the session budget plan must allow it.
  6. Q. I will arrive in Japan on Saturday and leave Japan on the next Sunday. How much can I get?
    A. 13,400*8 yen. "8" stands for the 8 nights. If you need to extend the stay more than a few days, please contact to Nobuki Takayama.
  7. Q. I want to visit Tokyo after or before the conference for sightseeing.
    A. It is not allowed by the regulations. However, if you visit Tokyo for your research, it is fine. You need a host scientist in Tokyo and a proof that your stay in Tokyo is covered by a grant.
  8. Q. Do I need a receipt of the hotel?
    A. No, I do not need, but please let me know the name of the hotel you stay.
  9. Q. I try to find the cheapest ticket, but it will take more than 22 hours to arrive in Japan.
    A. Please try to find direct flights to the Osaka International airport (KIX). United air, North west airlines, Finair, Lufthansa, JAL, ANA, ... provide them.
  10. Q. The airfare is too expensive.
    A. Please look up the FAQ of this page.
  11. Q. Do you need a signature of the department chair for the document 3?
    A. No. Your signature will be fine.
