研究テーマ：射影部分多様体の幾何学

研究の概要：射影空間はユークリッド空間と並んで最もありふれた空間である。ユークリッド空間は距離の概念のある空間として基本的であり、射影空間は射影構造と呼ばれる幾何構造をもった基本的な空間である。３次元の射影空間内の曲面については、１９世紀中ごろより研究対象となり、局所的な性質、大域的な性質ともに興味を持って調べられて来た。それらを総称して射影微分幾何学と云う。特に、局所理論は線形微分方程式系との関係が明確であり、射影微分幾何学は線形微分方程式系の幾何学とも考えることができる。 1940年代までは沢山の研究があるが、その後、局所理論への興味が減って忘れられていた。これに、可積分系を幾何的に理解したいと云う欲求と、幾何構造を広く理解したいと云う欲求をあわせて、新たな可能性を探ることを研究テーマとしている。
